This gene encodes a type-I integral membrane glycoprotein with diverse distribution in human tissues. The physiological function of this protein may be related to its mucin-type character. BD Horizon RealYellow 586 (RY586) is a bright, yellow emitting dye used in flow cytometry. This fluorophore is excited optimally by the 561 laser and is similar in its emission properties to PE, but interestingly, RY586 shows minimal cross-laser excitation with the 488 laser and can be used in spectral flow cytometry panels concurrently with PE (as stated by supplier).
