This gene encodes a carcinoma-associated antigen and is a member of a family that includes at least two type I membrane proteins. This antigen is expressed on most normal epithelial cells and gastrointestinal carcinomas and functions as a homotypic calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule. RealYellow 703 (RY703) is a spectrally novel fluorophore from BD Biosciences. The closest spectral equivalent is PE-Cy5.5 and PE-Fire 700 (BioLegend) but is far superior in its discrete excitation off the 561nm laser and limited cross-beam excitation by the 488nm laser.
