In 1990 an oncogene, v-mpl, was identified from the murine myeloproliferative leukemia virus that was capable of immortalizing bone marrow hematopoietic cells from different lineages. In 1992 the human homologue, named, c-mpl, was cloned. Sequence data revealed that c-mpl encoded a protein that was homologous with members of the hematopoietic receptor superfamily. Brilliant™ Violet 650 (BV650) is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that can be excited by the 405 nm Violet laser and collected using a 660/20 bandpass filter. BV650 has an excitation peak at 405 nm and an emission peak at 645 nm. Due to its unique Stokes shift, not many dyes have identical excitation and emission spectrums, but the nearest alternatives include SuperBright 645, Qdot® 655 and eF... see more
